Well, what a weekend! So I started my new job last week and worked three shifts, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then my weekend was Thursday, Friday.
So Thursday I went and got my haircut, bought a couple of new ties for work and a few other things, so it was a nice productive day. Thursday night, Mellise and I decided to go out on the Shore, so we tried Reservoire, got there and it was busy, but quiet. So we ordered a cocktail and sat down to drink it. Before we had reached the bottom of our glass, the bar had transformed into a night club and dancing began. It wasnt too much of a late night, which was good as I don't think I was prepared for the weekend that followed.
Friday afternoon, one of my best girl friends (we shall call her Tulip) from home was coming up with three of her mates to go and see Priscilla Queen of the Desert at the Civic in the city. So we met them when they finally arrived at about five (I think, it was so long ago). So we went to their motel and sat around eating cheese and crackers
and the ladies drunk wine. After many funny conversations we decided to walk up the street to have dinner. Now, we were a bit spoilt for choice. Hells Pizza, Thai, Italian, Turkish Kebabs, in short walking distance, so we paced the streets and decided on Italian. Now, we approached the door, as it swung open and our introduction was a yelling Italian man, I have no idea what he was saying, but it sure was different. So we all huddled inside the foyer from the freezing of outside and Tulip asked if they had a table for nine people. Now if you were keeping score, theres only six of us, Mellise and myself, and Tulip and three of her friends. The guys, all authentic Italians, replied, "No" After we finally convinced them that Tulip is a smart ass and theres actually only six of us, they squeezed us in the corner. Insert very attractive Italian waiter, I seriously swooned when I saw him. And everyone agreed, he was gorgeous. So the ladies decided it was their mission to pretty much set me up with him. By the end of the night, after a two course meal and Sambuca shot to compliment, they had found out his name, his girlfriends name and even had asked him if I stood a chance, his response was "Maybe in my next life" He was completely sweet about the situation and I think he was a bit chuffed with it too.

The entire experience of dinner is hard to explain, it was amzing. The atmosphere of this tiny restaurant is warm and welcoming and so very entertaining. If you are in the city of Auckland, you must go to Gina's Pizza and Pasta Bar in Newton.
So after dinner we returned to the Motel and had a few drinks and I had mentioned
the Drag show that they do down at Family every Friday night at 1am-ish. Tulip and one of her other friends was keen to go down and watch it. So at midnight we went down to Family and waited. Now, if you get me in a dance bar, whether Im drunk or sober, I dance. And dance I did. The drag show came and went as I danced and danced. Tulip and her friend left at 3:30. And I still continued dancing. Mellise and I finally got home at 4:50am and I had to be at work at 8am! Well that didnt quite happen to plan. Stumbled into work at 8:40, not too bad considering my alarm didnt even go off.

So after work Saturday, which I survived, Tulip text me and said that the show was AMAZING! And I text back and asked her where she was. They were at a pub in the city about to have dinner. So obviously we joined them, at Danny Doolans. Had dinner and listened to some guy playing his guitar. After we finished our meals, I had Toad in a Hole, very nice, we moved on to a couple of bars and had a drink. The ladies began to fade away so we were back at the motel by 11, which was good for me because I didnt want to be late to work again. Got home at midnight and got to work on time!
Go with the flow!

cool! you're a kiwi blogger too!
New to aucks?
I heard Prego (Italian) on Ponsonby is great.
Also you should try Pastis (French) on Victoria st. Just don't order any seafood from there, but ask about the day's specials!
