Entertainment Plug: Shelter

Hey Guys,

Well this film has been long awaited and this afternoon, Andy delivered the good news and told me that it had arrived (I got it imported from the CD and DVD Store), so I went round this afternoon and picked it up.

It was definately worth the wait. Though I was worried about the film for a little while there after reading a few reviews about the main actors acting, Im the sort of person that can keep an open mind and make my own decisions on that regard. The acting is fine, though it isnt Oscar worthy, it is still very much watchable and convincing. The storyline is great and the movie really comes from a genuine place and has a true feel of family, which I love, as it hits close to home.
From the moment the movie starts it grabs hold of your heart and doesnt let go, this movie is truely sweet and you will fall in love with it. Especially the scene when leads Sean and Zach kiss for the first time. It isnt your typical Hollywood kiss, and the scene plays out so naturally and I applaud the writers and the actors for a job well done. Seriously, this scene I could watch on repeat all day long!

Im not going to ruin any of the movie for you guys, all I will tell you is that it was worth the wait and seriously the best gay flick I have seen to date!

Go with the flow!

Food, Glorious Food: Chicken Satay

Hey Guys,

Well I have always been a big fan of Chicken Satay! Whether it was on a pizza, with chicken, or even just with rice, Im all for it. Now, if your ever in Mairangi Bay go to Pickles on Apollo, and try there main Chicken Satay dish, it IS to die for! Seriously.

No I have never ever in my life had Satay at home, from a jar or made from scratch, and the other day I was craving for it. So I google searched for a recipe, and I found one. (Which can be found here). So I decided to cook it.

And oh my gawd! I will never need to return to Pickles again! lol. This recipe is devine! The satay was smooth and delicious, it was the right amount of spicy and the right amount of peanut butter. The meal was gorgeous!

So if you have a spare thirty minutes to get this meal made from start to serving, I suggest you give it a go!

Heres the final product of my meal, I decided to add green capsicum to the kebabs, because we had them in the fridge, in hindsight, red capsicum would have been better because of the lack of overall colour the meal presents, either that or a fresh side salad with carrot and tomatoes would have brightened up the dish! Though our dinner plates help with the lack of colour :)

Happy Cooking!!!!

Entertainment Plug: The Dark Knight

Hey Guys!

Well, me and the Flatmate went to the Midnight screening of THE DARK KNIGHT last night and wow, I tell you. This movie grabs you by the balls and doesnt let go.

This movie really is for the boys, and boys at heart!

I had read a few reviews and how the movie was received on Wikipedia before I went and I took the criticism on board and went to the movie with an open mind. One review had stated that the entire movie was like a continuing cliffhanger and had the viewers leave the cinema exhausted rather than invigorated and inspired. Well i tell you, I left the cinema wanting more! The two and a half hours of complete action from go to wo was amazing. The visuals, the fight scenes, the humour, the darkness, everything was amazing, I could not find a flaw in the movie anywhere!

As for Mr Ledger, I went into the movie not expecting an overly "amazing" performance from him, thinking that everyone had just been talking him up because of his passing, but I was wrong. The mans performance is nothing short of brilliant. His completely evil and psychotic take on the Joker is spine tingling. He's humorous, evil, sadistic, just plain crazy. It wasnt until an hour into the movie where I actually seen "Heath" under all the makeup. The voice and the overall look is nothing like Heath at all. I also had a moment during one of his scenes when I thought, "Wow, this guy is an amazing actor, and this is the last movie he will ever do"
I never was a huge fan of this guy, but I applaud him for his part in the Dark Knight and hope he gets the Oscar for it. He will be missed by many!

The rest of the cast are also brilliant. Bale returning as Batman is obviously the best to date, with no real comparison to Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney, as this Sequel is clearly in a league of its own. Gyllenhaal replaces Katie Holmes shoes very nicely, and takes on the role of Rachel Dawes very well and true to Holmes take.
Freeman, Caine, Oldman and Eckhart create an amazing supporting team and are a pleasure to watch.

The movie is clearly all about the action and moving the storyline forward rather than the minor details. There are moments throughout the film where the movie could have slowed down to dwell on a few events, but they dont. It does kinda feel like 4hours of script jammed into 2hrs of film, but still very satisfying. This is not a stab at the film. It does its job as an adrenaline ride for the boys! Its visually stunning, the sound effects are scary at times and the storyline will impress!

Go and see it! NOW! KTHANXBYE!

(This post was bought to you by the word "Amazing")

Boy Chronicles: Update

Hey Guys,

Dont get too excited for me, theres not really too much to update, lol, but there is a few things I want to say in this department.

Firstly, Work Crush, has gone and done something completely left field, he's died his hair gold blonde, so maybe the boy isnt as straight as I had originally thought. But still, with my lacking in confidence, nothing will come of it, because I still can't be 100% sure. I know... shhh!

Secondly, JB came up and stayed on the weekend, it was good to catch up with him, but didnt get to spend too much time with him because I was working all weekend, which was a bummer. Nothing really to tell here either, so this is really just a quick, pointless update! :)
I shall leave you with another double picture of Kevin Gould! :)

Past, Present and Future: 2 Months, 7kg and $2000

Hey Guys,

Well, I have officially now been an Aucklander for two months (and four days), having moved up here on the 17th of May. I can not believe how quickly this time has gone, and yet how time is moving so slowly, because of the amount of stuff I have done in the past nine weeks. From having my temp job, to getting my current full time job, to seeing High School Musical on Ice, to going to Rainbows End, to partying till 5am multiple times and going through two cycles of a cold (one that Im in the middle of now). Also, another thing that has resulted in my first two months in the city is that Ive lost 7kg. Now Im not too sure how exactly I feel about that at this point in time. When I moved up I was around the 88kg mark, as of two hours ago Im 80.6kg, so yea... watch this space.

Also, took my fender bender down to get its warrant last weekend and it failed, because the tail lights are smashed, which I knew was going to happen. My warrant was due, so I decided, Id go get that done, then they can tell me everything thats wrong with it, then I can go and get it all fixed at once. WELL, maybe that wont happen. Got a quote from three different panel beaters to get my bumper fixed from when I reversed into the brick wall last month. Well, those quotes have come back, from the cheapest at $1900, to the dearest at $2100, so it's going to cost at least two grand! I dont have insurance on my car, which is silly, but when you cant exactly afford the premiums at the age of 20, because boy racers around New Zealand have given us guys under 25 a bad name! So that doesnt exactly make me a happy little camper.
To put a smile on my face, and yours, heres Kevin Gould! Whatta spunk!

Boy Chronicles: A New Crush

Hey Guys,

So Ive been in my new job for about three weeks now, and having a new work place, with new people, its enevitable that there was going to be an attraction there to someone.

My work is filled with a nice handful of attractive guys, and girls for that matter, but one guy has caught my eye. I won't name names, because sadly this can only be a crush as my gaydar doesnt go off with him (not that my gaydar works that well anyway) but Ive convinced myself that he is straight and out of bounds. Hes about 25ish and has the most gorgeous eyes! I have a thing for guys with dark hair and features and light coloured eyes, whether they be blue or green.

This guy isnt traditionally "hot" but he has a genuine look about him and I get lost in his eyes.

Today, I sparked up a conversation with him, which was kewl, he seems really nice and easy to get along with.

Um, thats all I have to share on this front, Im sure nothing will come of it. But who knows?
Heres a photo of Jake Gyllenhaal, who is blessed with the features that makes me swoon! :)

Past, Present and Future: Family, Rainbows and a Quiet Week In

Hey Guys,

Well the past week has been pretty uneventful, just work and sleep, really. So nothing too exciting to share on that front.

But, I did get the buzz to cook something. So I rocked on down to our local supermarket and got the ingredients for an "Asparagus and Chicken Penne" but because my flatmate isn't in to asparagus, I added broccoli as well. The result was really nice, though it was an interesting experience making it. The photo to the left is the final result!

Otherwise, my sister and brother-in-law (Renee and Richard) came down on Sunday to pick up his daughter from the Airport on Monday. So we had the big dinner in on Sunday night, thanks to the cooking skills of my flatmate who put together a beautiful roast lamb for us! After dinner, we had a few drinks and I made my famous cocktail, "New York Taxi". We drunk and shared stories all night, when Mellise suggested we play a game. So I whipped out the "Rapidough" and we played that a couple of times, and had alot of laughs!

On Monday, I had to work, so while Renee and Richard spent the day at a Mall, they picked up Jess at 4pm and I finally got out of work at 6ish and meet them for tea in Manukau at 7. We stayed at a motel in Manukau and this morning we went to New Zealands one and only theme park, Rainbows End!

So we got through the gates at opening time at 10am, the sun was up and the sky was beautifully clear, but being winter, it was freezing cold. So we did pretty much every ride there. Jess had a blast, it was her first time there. In fact, Renee had a blast too, oh hell, we all had a blast. It definately brought out the little kid in all of us. I even won Jess a toy monkey at the Shooting Range! Also, there was a new show at the Motion Master, it was a 3-D Movie of Spongebob! It was really really cool!

Its a bit of a short post, but I really don't have much to say, I have heaps of photos from today, so I'll let them speak for themselves!

The Roller Coaster!

And the reason why I spent most of the afternoon with a wet butt! Thats me in the red and black tee! :) Then its Richard in the middle and Jess to the right

Entertainment Plug: Jay Brannan

Hey guys!

Well to those who haven't met this guy, its about time you did. He is an AMAZING independant singer/songwriter/musician/producer/record label/A&R/and actor, an amazing guy in short. He has a beautiful voice and an awesome talent on the guitar. He has just released his debut solo album, Goddamned, and I can't wait to get it. Though its only available currently through his website, which requires a Credit Card and could be messy, it is coming out in stores at some stage. So I will get Andy from the CD and DVD Store to import it for me! No Credit Required!

You may also recognise this guy (or his penis) from the independant film Shortbus... which is a very raw movie based on very real sexual activities portrayed by very real people. Brannan, who is gay in real life, has a sex scene with two other guys. The movie follows a group of New Yorkers who are struggling with life and sex in their own different ways all come together at a place called Shortbus, a bar to express yourself sexually. Brannan even gets to sing and play guitar in the movie.

His music is also used in the upcoming Indie Film, Holding Trevor! Watch out for this movie too! Looks awesome!
